Recommendations for Employers
- Prepare a clear and complete written specification of the profile. This
saves everybody a lot of time and effort later on.The candidates
particularly want enough clear information on the nature of the job.
- Have a clear agreement with the consultant on fees and other terms.
- Provide privacy to candidates specially senior candidates during the
interview ( interviewing in a hotel and providing a private waiting space is
preferable interviews in your corporate office and waiting in the lobby it
is a very small community)
- Do not make the candidates wait more than 15 minutes for the interview.
- Give rapid feedback to the candidate and/or the consultant. A timely
"regret" is appreciated much more than an endless wait "on hold".
- Tell the consultant why the candidate was rejected or he has no inputs
for improving his performance.
- Do not give an offer letter until you have fully discussed and negotiated
the offer value, designation and responsibilties and are convinced the
candidate is absolutely committed to joining and has verbally committed a
joining date.Preferably dicsuss the offer value with the consulant
before hand to sound out the candidate.
- Give an offer letter only subject to immediate return of the acceptance
copy along with joining date in writing.Do not accept long notice
periods/joining periods better instead to offer to offer to pay off the
notice period
- Never interview a candidate who did not show up for an earlier interview
without adequate advance intimation/reasons.
- Enable the consultant to interact freely with the recruiting
departments and individuals to exchange detailed information and sell the
company to the candidate.
- Invite the consultant over to your offices to meet your managers atleast
once a quarter-it improves his understanding of the company and its culture
to help him project the company better to candidates
- Honour phone interview timings agreed with the candidate.Adjust work
timings to conduct phone interviews at the candidates home phone ie in the
late evening,early mornings or weekends.
- Be willing to consider candidates from all over India and streamline
interviewing and relocation procedures and co-ordination between differerent
office in cities.Offer travel allowances for attending outstation
interviews.
- Forward candidates for consideration by other departments in the company
if he does not fit the profile of the department/job for which application
submitted.Collaborate with your company offices/HR departments in other
cities.
- Pay the consultant a decent market rate.
- Make the payment in time-provide the salary figures a one days before he
joins so he can bill you in time.
- Consultants are busy and work with many companies. If you want your
assignment handled on top priority, an advance payment will help a lot.
